Text copied from PDFs, websites, email, spreadsheets and document editors can contain repeated spaces, hidden characters, tabs and unwanted line breaks. These characters may be difficult to see but can affect search, pasting, data imports and document layout.
The Text Cleaner applies only the options you select and shows the result before you copy or download it. Use it for draft articles, notes, product descriptions, email text, AI prompts, spreadsheet cells and content being moved between applications.
How the cleanup options work
- Extra spaces and tabs: standardise inconsistent gaps between words.
- Smart punctuation: convert typographic quotes and dashes when a plain-text system cannot accept them.
- Duplicate lines: keep the first identical non-empty line and remove later copies.
- Hidden formatting: remove zero-width directional characters and replace non-breaking spaces.
- Line-break controls: preserve paragraphs, remove blank rows or join wrapped lines.
When should line breaks be preserved?
Preserve line breaks for addresses, lists, poetry, code and any text where each row carries meaning. Join lines when a PDF has wrapped every visual line inside one paragraph. Always review the result because no automatic cleaner can infer every intended paragraph boundary.
